Announcing the Junior Professional Women’s Group – In Memory of Keisha Clay

We will be launching a Junior Professional Women’s Group in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri! This effort is organized by our Professional Women’s Group (PWG) leaders Jackie Woods, Precious Smith and Carla Smocks in memory of Carla’s late daughter, Keisha Clay.

Keisha was a long-time volunteer with us in Kansas City, and our Dress for Success Kansas City boutique is named Keisha’s Closet in her honor. She was posthumously honored with a 2019 Tribute to Success award, recognizing her lasting contributions and service in the community. Keisha had a heart and passion for the marginalized. Growing up in the Kansas City area, she realized there were other children who were not afforded the opportunities she had. Grateful and humbled by her success, she utilized her platform to help the less fortunate and others in need. On June 19, 2020, we announce the Junior Professional Women’s Group chapters in the spirit of our mission and Keisha’s legacy, championed by her mother to address current gaps within the Black community. Through the formation of these chapters, we commemorate the one year anniversary of Keisha’s passing and celebrate her deep care for others.

These Junior PWG chapters will focus on empowering young girls, helping them achieve success through the various stages of life. In response to systemic disadvantages and disparities, the group will provide a foundation and resources to inspire and guide girls to greatness.

Join us in “Making the World a Better Place” as we work toward positive community transformation. There will be opportunities for volunteers, sponsors and others who want to support this initiative as we continues our mission of inspiring families to realize their dreams through hope, resources and a plan.
