ST. CHARLES, MO — After completing the Connections to Success Personal and Professional Development (PPD) training program, Jerrix has outlined his life’s plans.

“Five years from now, I see myself being a successful business owner,” he said, “I want to open a shoe store and a clothing boutique.”

During his life, Jerrix has served five years of incarceration in state and federal prisons. His time in jail confirmed for him the need, and his want, to also work with youth.

“Some people don’t have fathers, or friends to communicate [with], and tell them what’s real in the world,” he said.

Jerrix stated his next goal is to found the “Make a Difference Foundation,” to speak with, and encourage children who don’t regularly have people take the time to meet, and talk with them.

After Jerrix received his Certificate of Achievement at the “Next Steps” ceremony, he performed a hip-hop song he wrote. His flowing verses stated “All I need is one night… to come back clean, with no crime… one night to do it again, and never stop trying,” telling all attending the graduation, that he’s focused on his success.

Jaron Simon, the Training Facilitator of the PPD program that Jerrix attended in East St. Louis, IL, says Jerrix was a “pace setter” from day one, always focused, respectful, and of good energy.

“I noticed in class, that he was very much about his business, and I always saw him working on things,” Jaron said. “He knows how to carry himself in such a way, that even if he’s stressed out, he’s always very joyful.”

Jerrix admitted completing the Connections to Success PPD program wasn’t easy, but knows its lessons were certainly for him, and encourages others to enroll in the program too.

“It definitely will make you feel a lot better… it’s going to be hard times where you’re going to feel like you should be doing something else, but in all honesty, God puts you here for a reason.”
