Meet our summer 2020 Kansas City intern, Breauna
Hello there!
My name is Breauna and I am a summer intern here with Connections to Success. I will also be a senior at The University of Alabama, majoring in African American studies with a minor in sociology – Roll Tide!
Community service is a passion of mine. It brings a smile to my face to always help those in need, whether the task is big or small. Over time I have come to realize that community service can take on different forms, such as teaching. As an example, I have the privilege working with various individuals from different countries and cultures as I tutor them in the English language. While at the university I practice my passion within my job, in school clubs and even during my spare time.
Connections to Success was first brought to my attention by my mom, and as I did more research I found that we share similar values and goals, i.e., inclusion, leadership and collaboration. With a major such as African American studies there are endless routes that I can take, so much so that it can be a bit overwhelming. However, the staff at Connections has been incredibly supportive and have provided me with a variety of options that I can apply my major to. This is only the beginning and I am elated to work with such an enthusiastic team.
We’re thankful to have Breauna interning with us this summer in the Kansas City region. She started her internship in May and has jumped right in, learning about the mission and helping with marketing projects.
