Alumni Cheyenne wins “Pursuit Beyond the Suit” Scholarship
Cheyenne participated in one of our first Personal and Professional Development Trainings in Central Missouri and just started her freshman year at Columbia College. She’s pursuing an associates degree in human services and recently won a “Pursuit Beyond the Suit” National Educational Scholarship, provided by Dress for Success Worldwide and the Equitable Foundation.
Cheyenne says her career goal is to become a certified substance use disorder counselor so she can help others through their recovery journey. She understands the challenges involved from her own recovery experience.
“I’m currently on a completely different path from where I was one year ago. Before I only cared about my addiction and did not care if I was alive for my future. My ambition was nonexistent,” says Cheyenne.
“I’ve completely changed my life around through drug court and Connections to Success’ Personal and Professional Development (PPD) class. PPD taught me that I can set and accomplish goals for myself and aim for the life that I want for myself.”
Equipped with a plan for the future and a caring support system, Cheyenne feels confident about her education. “With my supports, determination, and goals, I know that I will be successful in completing my degree and becoming a substance use disorder counselor.”
